You always say you would do anything for you child, right? Joseph Carver is certainly going to prove one way or the other if that statement applies to him and his son Max. When his wife wakes him saying that she heard noises coming from downstairs, Joseph thinks that history is repeating itself and he refuses to be the one that lets down his family again.

The last time he did nothing about a break in, his first wife paid the price. Armed with an axe he goes to confront the intruder to find out that it is his son Max. OK, all good so far, after all he had been out in a car that was not legal, so you could understand the sneaking in part. That is until Joseph notices that Max is trying to wash blood off his hands and tells his dad it was all an accident. Determined not to judge or destroy his son’s promising future, he sets out to help him cover up what has happened.
Now if it ended there and it was just about how they live with the aftermath then it would be one thing. However, the dilemma Joseph has is: Will he help his son again when it seems he is responsible for another body?
This book is dark and twisted and full of characters who quite definitely should not be out in society…
